Bengaluru (India) based AI Platform for food and agriculture, Cropin Technology, has announced the launch of Sage, a new AI tool powered by Google Gemini that provides real-time, detailed data to help farmers and agricultural businesses make better decisions.
Advanced Agricultural Technology
According to Cropin, Sage integrates Generative AI, global climate data, a global crop knowledge graph, earth observation data, and advanced crop models to enhance crop production planning and sustainable agriculture. By analyzing historical data and forecasting future yields, Sage identifies optimal locations and conditions for crop growth, helping to build a robust and resilient food system.
Immediate Impact
At launch, Cropin’s enterprise customers can use Sage to analyze 13 key crops, including wheat, rice, potato, and maize, which together meet almost 80% of the world’s food demand. Cropin plans to expand Sage globally in phases, aligning with customer requirements.
Tackling Visibility Challenges
Sage addresses the lack of transparency in global agriculture by offering a dynamic, on-demand global food and agriculture map. This map provides valuable insights to guide food production planning in the short, medium, and long term. It processes and analyzes extensive datasets quickly, transforming complex information into actionable insights through an intuitive interface featuring charts, data, graphs, and infographics.
Leveraging Google’s Technology
Sage is built on Google Cloud, using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to scale operations in real-time. It also utilizes the Gemini Flash 1.5 model to convert user queries into SQL queries, delivering user-friendly, grid-based data. This platform processes data into different grid sizes and aggregates it at various temporal frequencies, meeting customer needs.
Ensuring Food Security
In a world facing significant food production challenges, Sage provides the intelligence needed to navigate these issues. It helps agronomists address crop performance issues in real-time, enabling food manufacturers to secure their supply chains. By offering insights into crop productivity, climate impacts, and soil conditions, Sage supports informed decision-making and safeguards the global food supply chain.
