Godrej Agrovet, a global player in the agri-business sector, inaugurated its first Samadhan Centre for oil palm cultivation in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, earlier this week.
The company launched the Samadhan initiative last year to support the oil palm farmers with comprehensive package of knowledge, tools, services and solutions. With the focus to provide knowledge and access to contemporary technologies, ‘Samadhan’ enables farmers to make informed decisions about venturing into oil palm cultivation.
Looking Ahead
The launch event was graced by Dr. TRB Rajaa, Hon’ble Minister of Industries (Investment Promotion & Commerce Department), Government of Tamil Nadu, along with Sougata Niyogi, CEO of the Oil Palm Business at Godrej Agrovet Limited, and Rakesh Swami, Group President of Corporate Affairs at Godrej Industries.
Expansion Plans for Samadhan Centres
The Thanjavur Samadhan Centre is just the beginning of Godrej Agrovet’s ambitious plan. Each centre will support the planting of 2,000 hectares of oil palm and provide continuous assistance to farmers in sustaining yields from mature plantations. The centres will also incorporate state-of-the-art agricultural practices guided by industry experts.
In addition to the Samadhan Centre in Thanjavur, Godrej Agrovet has already established ten centres in Andhra Pradesh and plans to open 50 more by 2027. The company’s partnership with the State Bank of India will further support oil plantation farmers during the gestation period, ensuring financial stability and growth.
