A new web portal and mobile application that provide farmers from the Northeast with access to larger markets, better negotiation opportunities, premium pricing, and real-time availability updates have been launched.
Named the North East Region Agri Commodity E-Connect (NERACE), the technology that supports a wide range of agricultural and horticultural products from the Northeast, including spices, fruits, vegetables, pulses, cereals, and minor forest produce will advance agrotech in the region.
NERACE also offers buyers direct access to verified sellers, high-quality products, transaction planning, negotiations, and logistics support, fostering long-term relationships.
The NERACE portal and app were launched by Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, during his visit to the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Speaking about the app, the Minister emphasized the importance of empowering farmers to achieve the dream of a self-reliant and developed Northeast. He stated that the NERACE app will connect farmers to markets across India and the world, positioning the Northeast as a reliable partner in the international agricultural value chain.
The Northeast region currently boasts 20 GI products that are exotic, high-value, and rich in health benefits. The NERACE platform supports multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Mizo, Manipuri, Nepali, and Khasi.
The launch of NERACE marks a significant step towards realizing the vision of a prosperous and self-reliant Northeast, with farmers at the forefront of this transformative change.
