FMC Corporation, a global agricultural sciences company, has secured registration for Ambriva herbicide and Isoflex active, to control weed growth in wheat. Ambriva herbicide is developed to control weed including those with developed resistance to other herbicides such as Phalaris minor.
Ambriva powered by Isoflex active is classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) as a group 13 herbicide. Isoflex active offers growers’ operational flexibility and lasting control of key grass weeds
Ambriva contains Isoflex active ingredient and metribuzin which will support wheat farmers, especially in the northwestern regions of the Indo-Gangetic plains, where Phalaris minor poses a significant challenge to crop yield potential. It offers a solution with its ability to provide both residual control and rapid knockdown activity, protecting wheat during the critical crop-weed competition period as a one-shot solution. This means farmers can expect a single application to protect their wheat crops throughout the critical growth period.
“At FMC, we’re committed to serving farmers with innovative crop solutions that help them protect their crops and optimize yields. In the last few years, we have rigorously tested Ambriva herbicide in wheat over multiple seasons, observing consistent performance against Phalaris minor. We believe that Ambriva herbicide will contribute to a healthy crop by providing growers with a new and effective tool to control Phalaris minor, which has become resistant to other herbicides,”
The registration and imminent introduction of Ambriva herbicide in Indian market, according to the company, is expected to be a game-changer for wheat cultivation, with higher yields. Isoflex active is registered in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China and Great Britain.
