India and New Zealand are enhancing their agricultural partnership with a focus on technical collaboration in horticulture and cage fisheries. This initiative aims to leverage New Zealand’s expertise to boost India’s agricultural practices, particularly in these specialized areas.

In a recent high-level bilateral meeting held at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi, India’s Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and New Zealand’s Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, and Trade, Todd McClay, discussed the expansion of agricultural cooperation. Key outcomes included New Zealand’s support for the import of Indian pomegranates and the lifting of restrictions on mango exports, paving the way for increased trade between the two nations.

The meeting also underscored the potential for greater private-sector partnerships, with both countries committed to advancing bilateral trade and investment to benefit farmers and consumers alike.

Minister Chouhan expressed appreciation for New Zealand’s efforts in strengthening ties with India, while both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to furthering economic and trade relations for the benefit of farmers and consumers in both countries. The meeting concluded with Minister Chouhan extending his best wishes to Minister McClay and his delegation for a successful visit to India.
