Marsh Harrier, an agrotech startup backed by IIMA Ventures, has acquired AJA Vision Technologies, a leading computer vision company from Ahmedabad, in an undisclosed deal. The acquisition aims to strengthen Marsh Harrier’s automation and computer vision capabilities, crucial for its packhouse solutions.
By integrating AJA Vision’s advanced software and expertise, Marsh Harrier plans to enhance its grading, sorting, and packing technology for fruits and vegetables. This acquisition supports company’s strategy to develop indigenous solutions for Indian packhouse automation, positioning it for expansion in new product categories.
Advancing Agricultural Automation with AI
Nitin Gupta, CEO of Sickle Innovations (Marsh Harrier’s parent company), stated that this acquisition comes at a time when the pack-house automation business is experiencing significant growth. The move will boost Marsh Harrier’s ability to meet industry demands and expand into new sectors. The acquisition aligns with Marsh Harrier’s mission of building solutions that streamline post-harvest processes for Indian farmers. Jignesh Patel, CEO of AJA Vision, emphasized the untapped potential of AI in post-harvest operations, pointing out that India, despite being the second-largest fruit producer, still relies heavily on manual operations.
