In a landmark achievement, Cargill RegenConnect has enrolled over one million acres for the 2025 US planting season, reaffirming Cargill’s commitment to advancing regenerative agriculture and supporting farmers in sustainable transitions. This milestone showcases the growing momentum toward a more resilient and environmentally conscious agricultural system, essential for ensuring food security in a changing world.

A Holistic Support System for Farmers: Momentum Behind Regenerative Agriculture

Launched in 2021, Cargill RegenConnect provides farmers with an array of tools, resources, and incentives to integrate regenerative practices such as low till, no-till, and cover cropping. These approaches improve soil health, boost water retention, sequester carbon, and enhance biodiversity. The nearly 1,500 farmers participating in the U.S. program benefit from:

  • Dedicated agronomic support
  • One-year flexible contracts
  • Direct payments for carbon sequestration
  • Freedom to choose practices tailored to their operations

This farmer-centric flexibility is crucial for the success of regenerative transitions, allowing growers to adopt methods that align with their unique conditions.

“This milestone is not just a number; it reflects the growing movement of farmers who are integrating regenerative practices to help improve their soil health and resiliency. Most farmers that enroll in Cargill RegenConnect return year after year, and more than 40 percent of those returning growers added new acres for 2025, underscoring the momentum behind this shift.”

Global Reach and Tailored Solutions

Cargill’s regenerative agriculture efforts extend beyond the U.S., with initiatives in Canada, Australia, Brazil, Europe, and more than 15 countries worldwide. These programs include agroforestry, cattle grazing management, farmer training, and region-specific research. By tailoring solutions to local conditions, Cargill equips farmers to overcome unique challenges, whether through agronomic support or policy-driven collaborations.

A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future

Cargill’s 2024 Impact Report highlights its long-term vision to mainstream regenerative practices across its global supply chains. “Every farm faces unique conditions, and successful adoption requires localized solutions,” Hansen emphasized. “Collaboration between farmers, policymakers, and food companies is essential to scaling these practices and building a resilient, secure food system.”

Benefits Beyond the Farm

Cargill’s regenerative agriculture programs, including RegenConnect, not only enhance farm-level sustainability but also help downstream customers reduce the environmental footprint of their supply chains. With each new acre enrolled, the program sets the stage for a scalable, sustainable transformation of global agriculture.

This milestone demonstrates that regenerative agriculture is no longer a niche concept but a vital pillar for the future of farming and food security.
