Samunnati, Northern Farmers FPO Partner to Support Sustainable Farming in North India

Samunnati, an agri-value chain enabler, has announced a strategic partnership with Northern Farmers Mega FPO in Ambala. The collaboration aims to provide farmers across northern India with access to sustainable agricultural practices, technical support, credit, and new market opportunities. This initiative focuses on reducing farming costs, managing agricultural waste, and adapting to climate change, ensuring long-term benefits for the farming community.

Support for Over 50 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)

As part of this collaboration, Samunnati will work with over 50 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in northern India. The partnership will strengthen sustainable farming practices, improve market access and address key environmental issues like stubble burning. One of the key objectives of this partnership is to provide resources that enable farmers to access inputs, technology services, credit and investment opportunities.

Converting Paddy Straw Waste into Clean Energy

A major initiative of the partnership focuses on converting paddy straw waste into clean energy alternatives, including compressed biogas and biomass pellets. This effort aims to address the region’s pollution problems caused by stubble burning, which has been a persistent environmental issue. By finding sustainable ways to utilize paddy straw, the collaboration seeks to reduce pollution while contributing to agricultural prosperity.

Building a Sustainable Ecosystem for Farmers

As per the news reports, Samunnati Founder and CEO, Anil Kumar SG, expressed that this collaboration is a step toward building a sustainable and economically viable ecosystem for farmers. He emphasized the importance of creating a model where farmer-owned companies can collaborate with market leaders to boost agricultural prosperity.

Puneet Singh Thind, Founder and Director of Northern Farmers Mega FPO, also highlighted that the partnership would provide essential resources and market access to member farmers across multiple northern states. The initiative aims to help FPOs adopt climate-adaptive technologies, reduce operational costs, and promote sustainability in farming practices.
