Indonesian cattle farming solution start-up HiFeed has announced the successful closure of its pre-seed funding round, led by climate-tech venture builder Wavemaker Impact (WMi). The investment aims to accelerate the development of innovative solutions designed to decarbonize cattle farming and livestock production, making these industries more sustainable and eco-friendly, according to a statement released by the company.
Tackling Environmental Challenges in Cattle Farming
Cattle farming, a vital component of the global food system, significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for 9 percent of global emissions and serving as one of the largest sources of methane—a potent contributor to global warming. HiFeed aims to address these challenges by cutting methane emissions, improving feed efficiency, and promoting sustainable farming practices that balance environmental and economic priorities.
HiFeed Founder and CEO Ihsan Akhirulsyah emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating:
“Thanks to Wavemaker Impact’s support, we’re closer to revolutionizing the industry with solutions that enable farmers to cut emissions while improving productivity.”
The company’s goal, he added, is to make decarbonization accessible, scalable, and profitable for farmers globally.
Innovative Solutions for Farmers
One of the significant challenges for cattle farmers is the lack of affordable, high-performance feed that supports growth and productivity. HiFeed’s solutions target this issue by focusing on three core areas: methane mitigation technologies, sustainable feed solutions, and carbon insetting tools.

The company is developing innovative feed products with anti-methanogenic properties to reduce methane emissions while enhancing digestion and feeding practices. Through ongoing research, HiFeed is creating nutrient-rich, eco-friendly feed options that lower the carbon intensity of cattle farming. Additionally, the company provides tools to help farmers measure and reduce their carbon emissions, empowering them to achieve net-zero targets while boosting profitability.
Early results from HiFeed’s pilot projects show promising outcomes, including lower feed costs for farmers and improved cattle growth rates. These results underscore the potential of HiFeed’s approach to transform food systems in Southeast Asia and beyond.
A Vision for Sustainable Agriculture
HiFeed’s mission is rooted in the belief that agricultural innovation is essential for combating climate change. By focusing on reducing methane emissions and improving farming practices, the company seeks to pave the way for a more sustainable agricultural future.
Wavemaker Impact, launched in 2021, co-founds sustainability startups with experienced entrepreneurs. Its $60 million debut fund targets Southeast Asia and aims to reduce 10 percent of the global carbon budget by 2035. The fund focuses on major emission drivers, including agriculture, energy, industrial processes, the built environment, and transport.
Wavemaker Impact claims to be Southeast Asia’s first Climate-Tech Venture Build VC. It aims to build a portfolio of companies that has the potential to reduce 10% of the global carbon budget by 2035.
With the backing of Wavemaker Impact and its mission-driven approach, HiFeed is poised to lead the transition toward sustainable cattle farming and contribute to global efforts in addressing climate change.
