In a major step towards revolutionizing sustainable farming practices, Coromandel International Limited, a leading name in agri-inputs, has launched an advanced Soil and Leaf Testing Laboratory at its Kakinada plant in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This state-of-the-art facility is set to transform the way farmers across India understand and manage their soil and crop nutrient needs.
A Lab for the Future of Farming
The new laboratory, inaugurated by Coromandel’s Executive Chairman, Arun Alagappan, and Managing Director & CEO, S. Sankarasubramanian, is equipped with cutting-edge technologies like Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (ED-XRF). These tools, along with spectrophotometers, microwave digesters, and near-infrared spectrometers, ensure precise analysis of soil and plant nutrients.
For farmers, this means access to detailed, accurate insights into soil health and nutrient availability, empowering them to make informed decisions about fertilizer use. As S. Sankarasubramanian put it during the inauguration, “This first-of-its-kind laboratory equips farmers with the knowledge to optimize their productivity while safeguarding soil health for generations to come.”
How It Works
Farmers can now benefit from automated soil testing service requests, with detailed test results delivered directly to their mobile phones. Using Salesforce CRM, the lab provides timely, data-driven recommendations. The facility is also integrated with the Gromor Nutri Advisory Portal, which offers tailored fertilizer recommendations based on specific soil data and crop requirements.

By addressing nutrient deficiencies, the lab not only helps improve crop yields but also reduces unnecessary input costs, promoting a more sustainable approach to farming.
A Commitment to Farmers
Coromandel International has long been committed to empowering farmers with innovative solutions. “Our goal is to provide farmers with tools to make informed, crop-specific decisions, ensuring sustainable productivity,” said Mr. Sankarasubramanian.
This latest initiative underscores Coromandel’s dedication to promoting agricultural sustainability, helping farmers adopt precise farming practices that boost yields while preserving the environment.
Why It Matters
For Indian farmers, who often grapple with challenges like soil degradation and fluctuating yields, the insights offered by this lab are a game changer. By leveraging technology, Coromandel is not just improving agricultural practices but also securing a more sustainable future for farming communities across the country.
