Netafim, a part of Orbia’s Precision Agriculture business, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Hybrid Dripline system. This patented technology combines the benefits of integral and on-line dripper systems into a single, leak-free and clog-resistant solution. With its built-in outlet, the Hybrid Dripline is designed to simplify irrigation processes while increasing efficiency for growers across various agricultural sectors, including vineyards, orchards and greenhouses.

Netafim’s Approach to Irrigation Efficiency

The Hybrid Dripline streamlines irrigation by integrating a pre-assembled outlet, removing the need for labor-intensive tasks such as manual hole-punching and fitting migration rings. This eliminates one of the key challenges growers face—ensuring consistent water distribution at fixed points, particularly in settings with varying tree growth stages. Initially launched as part of the UniRam dripline range, the Hybrid Dripline technology will soon extend across Orbia Netafim’s entire Heavy Wall Dripline portfolio, benefiting farmers worldwide.

“The Hybrid Dripline comes after years of development and represents an exciting leap forward in precision irrigation technology. This innovation saves farmers time, labor and resources while delivering superior irrigation results. By integrating two distinct systems into one seamless solution, we are proud to be redefining efficiency, reliability and performance for growers, helping them achieve optimal yields even with challenging water quality.”

Benefits Across Different Agricultural Sectors

The key advantage of the Hybrid Dripline is its ability to function like an on-line system while maintaining the efficiency of an inline dripline. This feature ensures consistent water distribution while significantly reducing manual labor.

In vineyards, the built-in outlets eliminate the need for migration rings by keeping the dropping point fixed. This prevents water from shifting along the tubing, ensuring precise irrigation and reducing the need for labor-intensive adjustments. For orchard growers, the Hybrid Dripline offers a flexible solution that accommodates different growth stages of trees. The outlets can be plugged or unplugged as needed, allowing irrigation to be adjusted without requiring additional equipment or modifications.

Greenhouse and protected crop operations also benefit from the Hybrid Dripline’s ability to seamlessly connect to irrigation emitters such as NetBow and drop leading stakes for substrates. This feature simplifies installation and maintenance while improving water efficiency and reducing labor costs.

Tavo Acosta, a vineyard grower from Los Alamos, California, highlighted the impact of this innovation. “Managing precision irrigation across vineyards has become increasingly difficult due to the current labor challenges. Orbia Netafim’s Hybrid Dripline has provided a substantial savings over utilizing the traditional tubing and button dripper installation. This new process delivers the same drip pattern that is required on sloped ground while achieving a substantial labor savings. This saves us countless hours due to the ease of deployment and installation with one pass down the vine row.”

Clogging Resistance and Water Efficiency

One of the standout features of the Hybrid Dripline is its clog-resistant design, which ensures consistent and uniform performance even when using low-quality water sources. With an integrated dripper that minimizes blockages, the system provides a reliable solution for growers facing water quality challenges.

The Hybrid Dripline’s design prevents water drop migration, a common issue that results in non-uniform irrigation. By maintaining a fixed dropping point, the system ensures that every plant receives the required amount of water, optimizing yield potential. Additionally, the pre-installed outlets eliminate the risk of human error during installation, reducing leaks and ensuring that the irrigation system operates with maximum efficiency.

Applications Beyond Agriculture

While the primary focus of the Netafim’s Hybrid Dripline is on precision agriculture, its benefits extend beyond traditional farming. The technology has also shown promise in improving irrigation efficiency in mining operations. For heap leached mines, the Hybrid Dripline ensures precise irrigation across pads and slopes, minimizing labor costs and installation errors while enhancing mineral recovery rates. By preventing drop migration along driplines, the system supports a more effective and sustainable mineral extraction process.

Future Expansion and Global Reach

Orbia Netafim has plans to expand the Hybrid Dripline technology across its entire Heavy Wall Dripline portfolio, further advancing irrigation efficiency for growers worldwide. With its innovative design and multiple benefits, the Hybrid Dripline is set to play a crucial role in modern agriculture, helping farmers optimize their water use while reducing labor costs and improving overall productivity.

As the demand for more efficient and sustainable farming practices grows, Netafim’s Hybrid Dripline stands as a major advancement in irrigation technology, offering a practical solution to the challenges faced by growers across diverse agricultural and industrial landscapes.
