Ingen Technologies, the global arm of WRMS Global, has formalized a partnership with the Government of Kerala to enhance the state’s weather monitoring infrastructure. Ingen Technologies will install approximately 950 weather IoT Systems across all 14 districts of Kerala to improve agricultural resilience through advanced weather data systems.

The Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare has appointed Ingen Technologies as the WINDS (Weather Information and Data Systems) Implementation Partner (WIP).

The systems include Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and Automatic Rain Gauges (ARGs), designed to deliver real-time data on temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and rainfall. This deployment aims to provide critical weather insights at both Block and Gram Panchayat levels.

Five-Year Implementation Plan

The rollout will span five years, ensuring phased and systematic installations that adhere to the WINDS infrastructure guidelines. The placement of devices at multiple administrative levels is structured to support continuous and high-quality weather data collection across the State.

Ingen Empowering Farmers Through Real-Time Data

By delivering timely and localized weather data, the initiative seeks to empower farmers in making more informed decisions regarding crop planning and management. The integration of these systems is expected to play a pivotal role in improving agricultural preparedness and mitigating the adverse effects of unpredictable climate conditions.

Addressing Kerala’s Climate Vulnerabilities

Kerala’s recent history of severe weather events, including the catastrophic floods of 2018 and frequent monsoon disruptions, has highlighted the urgent need for accurate weather monitoring. This project directly addresses that gap, enabling both farmers and state authorities to adopt proactive strategies to reduce climate-related risks and enhance disaster preparedness.

Sustainability Through Data-Driven Agriculture

Beyond short-term benefits, the initiative supports the long-term sustainability of the agricultural sector. By providing reliable weather intelligence, the systems will facilitate smarter farming practices and promote environmental stewardship within local communities.

Ankit Agarwal, Head of AWS & IoT at Ingen Technologies, commented on the development, stating that the partnership with the Kerala Government represents an essential step in supporting the State’s farmers.

“Kerala has faced significant climate-related disasters in recent years, including the devastating Kerala floods of 2018 and recurring monsoon-related calamities. These events have underscored the critical need for accurate and timely weather monitoring. By installing advanced weather IoT systems and providing real-time datasets across Kerala, we are helping to improve disaster preparedness, enabling farmers and authorities to proactively mitigate risks and safeguard livelihoods.”
Ankit Agarwal, Head of AWS & IoT, Ingen Technologies

The collaboration between Ingen Technologies and the Government of Kerala marks a comprehensive approach to integrating weather intelligence into grassroots agricultural practices. By embedding real-time monitoring systems across the State, the initiative is positioned to enhance operational decision-making, mitigate environmental risks, and create a more robust framework for climate-resilient farming in Kerala.
