In a significant step forward for both the company and the community, Irish agrotech firm Herdwatch has officially opened its new global headquarters in the heart of Roscrea, County Tipperary. The 4,000-square-foot facility is more than just an office space—it symbolizes a return to where it all began. Founded in 2012 by Fabien Peyaud in partnership with the FRS Co-op, Herdwatch has grown from a local initiative to a platform used on over 22,000 farms across multiple continents.
The new headquarters, launched with the intent of fostering innovation, is designed with open, collaborative areas that aim to support the development of their livestock management software and enhance customer service operations. As much as it is a nod to Herdwatch’s technological aspirations, the space is also a gesture of loyalty to the community that stood by the company in its early days.
“This marks an exciting new chapter for Herdwatch. We’re incredibly proud of our roots here in Roscrea,” said CEO and co-founder Fabien Peyaud at the launch event. “What began as a local innovation has grown into a global platform, and we are thrilled to continue our journey from our new home in the heart of the community that first believed in us.”
More Than Just Software: A Growing Team With Global Reach
Herdwatch’s growth has been steady and wide-reaching. It is now the most widely used livestock management platform in both Ireland and Britain, with operations extending into the United States, Canada, and Ukraine. From a business that once catered to local farmers, the company now serves a global agricultural network with an app that supports critical livestock management tasks.
Despite its international reach, Herdwatch continues to anchor nearly half of its workforce in Roscrea, employing close to 100 people in total. This decision to remain deeply embedded in the local community even as the company expands globally is not just practical—it’s a deliberate act of staying true to its origins.
In addition to the new Tipperary site, Herdwatch recently set up a new office in Shropshire, near Harper Adams University, a top agricultural institution in the UK. This move signals the company’s growing emphasis on bridging academia and agrobusiness, as well as strengthening its footprint in Britain’s farming heartland.
A Tool for the Modern Farmer
Herdwatch’s software is designed with the needs of the modern livestock farmer in mind. At its core, the app provides tools to streamline record-keeping, compliance with regulatory standards, and day-to-day productivity on the farm. Farmers can use it to track animals, monitor breeding cycles, and keep an eye on herd health—all from a mobile device.
What distinguishes Herdwatch is how it brings different actors in the agricultural chain together. The app enables connections not just between farmers and their livestock, but also between farmers, veterinarians, and other stakeholders across the supply chain. The result is a more transparent and informed approach to livestock management.
Kevin Sherry, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, emphasized this point when he remarked, “Enterprise Ireland is committed to supporting Irish-owned businesses to start, compete, scale and connect, and this includes pioneering Irish agrotech businesses that are having an impact around the world. Herdwatch is doing just that with their cutting-edge innovation, enabling farmers and livestock managers to deliver smarter and more efficient operations.”

Commitment to Community and Sustainable Growth
The official opening of the new facility was presided over by Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, who acknowledged both the company’s accomplishments and its contribution to the broader agricultural landscape.
“Herdwatch is a global industry leader, having an impact on farms around the world,” he said. “The Herdwatch innovation is critical to the future of the agriculture sector, as it can help reduce costs on farm enterprises, create efficiencies, support decision making, all the while improving outcomes in a sustainable manner.
“Herdwatch is also a key local employer that is committed to Roscrea community, and I would like to congratulate Fabien and all the Herdwatch team on their growth and success and wish them luck in this exciting new phase of their journey.”
The Minister’s words reflect the dual nature of Herdwatch’s role: it is both a business pushing digital tools into the hands of farmers and a community-focused organization that’s generating jobs and development in rural Ireland.
Looking Ahead from the Heart of Roscrea
For Herdwatch, the opening of the new headquarters is not just an operational upgrade. It’s a reaffirmation of values that have defined its journey: innovation that serves real-world needs, a connection to community, and a commitment to evolving agriculture without losing sight of the people who keep it running.
As the company moves forward, its Roscrea roots seem poised to remain at the center of its identity. This isn’t a company chasing international expansion at the cost of homegrown connections. Instead, Herdwatch continues to blend local grounding with global ambitions—a model that’s increasingly rare and deeply appreciated by those it impacts the most: the farmers themselves.
