Elevate Farms Completes Acquisition of Fieldless Farms, Expanding CEA Footprint in Canada

Elevate Farms, a vertical farming technology company, has completed the acquisition of all issued and outstanding securities of Fieldless Farms, resulting in Fieldless Farms becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Elevate Farms. The transaction brings together two Canada based companies operating in the vertical and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) sector and marks a consolidation of indoor farming capabilities within the country.

Consolidation Within CEA

Elevate Farms stated that the acquisition aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen domestic food production systems while building a scalable platform for future growth. With the closing of the transaction, Fieldless Farms’ operations, assets, and technical expertise are now fully integrated into Elevate Farms’ corporate structure.

Amin Jadavji, Chief Executive Officer of Elevate Farms, said the successful completion of the acquisition unites two companies working within the same segment of the agriculture sector. He noted that the transaction supports the development of a Canadian based food production platform with ambitions for sustained growth and the ability to address opportunities beyond Canada.

Fieldless Farms’ Operations and Sustainability Focus

Fieldless Farms operates a controlled environment agriculture facility in Cornwall, Ontario, where it produces pesticide free leafy greens. The facility is powered by renewable energy and incorporates packaging solutions designed to reduce plastic usage by up to 90 percent compared with conventional alternatives. These operational characteristics are expected to continue under Elevate Farms’ ownership.

Elevate Farms indicated that it plans to collaborate closely with the existing Fieldless Farms team to further advance controlled environment growing systems. The combined organization intends to build on research and technological approaches that were originally developed through collaborations with the University of Guelph and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which have informed Fieldless Farms’ indoor agriculture practices.

Canadian Food Sovereignty and Supply Resilience

Executives from both companies emphasized the relevance of the acquisition against the backdrop of current pressures on global food supply chains. Jon Lomow, Chief Executive Officer of Fieldless Farms, said the transaction comes at a time when global trade uncertainty and evolving tariff policies are affecting food imports into Canada.

Lomow stated that increased investment in local food production is increasingly important under these conditions. He added that the combination with Elevate Farms is intended to support a more resilient domestic food supply while positioning Canadian developed technologies and practices for international markets. He also noted that Fieldless Farms was founded with the objective of building a national brand centered on sustainable food production and Canadian food independence.

Expansion and International Opportunities

From Elevate Farms’ perspective, the acquisition is also seen as a pathway to scale controlled environment food production originating in Canada. Brad Lamb, Chairman of Elevate Farms, said the transaction provides an opportunity to expand Canadian controlled production capacity and strengthen the country’s participation in the global controlled environment agriculture market.

By integrating Fieldless Farms into its operations, Elevate Farms plans to expand production capacity, deepen technical expertise, and explore opportunities to export controlled environment agriculture products and solutions beyond Canada. The companies indicated that the combined platform will continue to focus on sustainability oriented practices, ongoing innovation, and long term food security objectives.
