Chennai based deep tech company working across precision farming and defence technologies, AvironiX Drones, introduced the AviSpray-10c, a backpack sized agricultural spraying drone designed to reduce cost, operational complexity and manpower requirements in drone enabled crop spraying. The AviSpray-10c has been developed to offer a compact alternative to current generation spraying drones, measuring 53% smaller and configured for two wheeler mobility and single operator deployment. The launch took place at an event in Chennai attended by stakeholders from the agriculture and drone ecosystem.
Extensive Field Validation Across More Than 6,000 Acres
The AvironiX’s new drone is built on operational insights gathered from over 6,000 acres of real world agricultural spraying across diverse crops, including sugarcane and paddy. Its development followed a field centric engineering approach inspired by the Genchi Genbutsu philosophy, which emphasises direct observation of real use conditions. Continuous iteration based on field studies enabled refinement of the platform to address terrain variability, workflow constraints and crop specific spraying requirements. This process allowed every subsystem to be shaped by an understanding of Indian farm environments rather than laboratory assumptions.
Reconfiguring Cost and Operational Dynamics in Agri Spraying
The compact structure of the AvironiX’s AviSpray-10c removes the need for bulky transport vehicles, permanent drone mounting boxes and additional manpower. The design enables transportation on scooters or bicycles and allows single operator handling without support staff. The platform covers up to five acres per battery charge, indicating a 60% improvement over many widely used alternatives. Its reduced battery requirement lowers capital expenditure, fuel use and generator dependence. Daily operations do not require a charger onsite, thereby reducing downtime during spraying cycles and improving overall operational efficiency in the field.
Agriculture is not a problem that can be solved from an office or a computer simulation. Our engineers spent years in Indian farms, covering over 6,000 acres of real spraying operations. Every design decision in the AviSpray-10c is the result of direct field feedback, rigorous testing, and continuous iteration. This is how we engineer technology for India’s demanding farming conditions. This is not merely a reduction in size; it represents a fundamental shift in the agri-spraying business model. Lower investment, lower operating costs, higher uptime, and improved profitability for pilots and agri-entrepreneurs are built directly into the design.
Built for India’s Environmental and Agricultural Conditions
The AvironiX’s new drone incorporates a high efficiency hexacopter flight system and endurance capabilities consistent with extended duty cycles. It delivers a twofold improvement in spraying accuracy and supports swappable chemical tanks and multiple nozzle configurations. The system integrates terrain following radar, collision avoidance features and an RPTO ready master slave architecture. Each component has been validated to withstand heat, dust, humidity, wind and operational stretches typical of Indian farm settings. The drone has been designed in Ambattur and manufactured in Maramalainagar, with a focus on meeting the requirements of local environmental conditions and agricultural workflows.

Customer Success Framework and AgriDrone Expert Network
AvironiX has introduced a Customer Success model to accompany the AviSpray-10c, supported by a national network of trained AgriDrone Experts. This framework includes structured pilot training, supervised flying, annual maintenance contract support, preventative maintenance, repairs, skill enhancement and retraining modules. The model is designed to ensure continuity of operations, quick field level servicing and reduced downtime during peak spray windows. The on-ground support structure aims to provide consistent operational availability and stable earning opportunities for drone pilots and agri entrepreneurs using the platform.
The AviSpray-10c has not just been designed by Aeronautical engineers working in local fields, but also engineered specifically for India’s environmental and agricultural realities – heat, dust, humidity, wind, and long duty cycles. Every subsystem has been field-validated to deliver endurance, precision, and safety without compromise. The ubiquitous Chinese imports that drown the market don’t even come close to this – this is a purpose built drone, designed in Ambattur and built in Maramalainagar, for Indian conditions.
Roadmap for Data Driven Agricultural Spraying
AvironiX outlined its upcoming technology roadmap focused on real time data driven spraying powered by a proprietary microscopic MEMS plant sensing system developed with an Australian technology partner, Magic Wavelength. The platform is expected to deliver up to 30 times more plant health data than prevailing market solutions. This upcoming capability aims to expand access to advanced agronomic insights and support higher precision interventions. Early adopters within the company’s ecosystem are positioned to be the first to experience the new technology once commercialised.
Demonstrations and Customer Engagement at the Launch
The Chennai event included experience zones where participants viewed the AviSpray-10c in backpack mode, examined its fully deployed configuration and assessed its operational workflow through hands on demonstrations. Selected pre order customers received symbolic controller cut outs marking the commencement of deliveries. The demonstrations offered attendees an in depth view of portability, performance attributes and user interface features embedded into the system.
The introduction of the AvironiX’s new drone marks a strategic step in reshaping operational efficiency within India’s precision-farming ecosystem. By combining compact mobility, extensive field validation, optimised economics and a dedicated support network, the platform positions itself as an integrated solution for scalable spraying operations. With a clear roadmap toward data-driven agricultural practices, the AviSpray-10c establishes a foundation for enhanced productivity and more streamlined workflows across diverse farming environments.
