Aydi's AI Agronomy Assistant Orth

Aydi, a Netherlands based AI powered platform focused on growers, has raised US$ 7.5 million in a seed round to introduce Orth, an AI agronomy assistant. This investment is aimed at enabling the company to scale Orth globally and position it as part of a broader AI operating system for agriculture, with the goal of reaching millions of farmers worldwide. The funding came from COTU Ventures, Daltex Corporation, and Nuwa Capital, with additional participation from Magrabi Agriculture and Foundation Ventures.

Intelligence Engine and Capabilities

Orth has been designed as a digital agronomy assistant that turns decades of agricultural science into practical tools for growers. It brings together satellite and weather monitoring, predictive analytics on millions of data points, and conversational AI to deliver plot level precision. The system provides personalized, real time insights, helping farmers detect problems early, optimize input use, and improve crop quality. According to Aydi, the platform has the potential to enhance efficiency and yields by more than 20%.

Redefining Agronomy Access

Orth aims to make world class agronomy available to every grower at a time when global food demand is projected to rise by 70% by 2050. Aydi’s internal estimates suggest that 90% of growers lack timely access to expert agronomic advice, with only one agronomist available per 10,000 acres, or about 4,047 hectares. By bridging this gap, Orth extends critical expertise directly to farmers through an easy to use AI assistant that supports better decision making and higher quality crop outcomes.

“Closing the seed round is a major milestone for Aydi and validates our mission to give every grower access to world class agronomy. Experts say global food demand is set to rise 70% by 2050. However, according to our company’s internal estimates, 90% of growers lack access to timely agronomic expertise, given there is only 1 agronomist per 10,000 acres worldwide. Orth changes that by turning decades of agricultural science into an easy to use AI assistant that gives farmers instant recommendations, detects problems early, and helps them grow higher quality crops.”

Orth is designed to act as agronomic intelligence that works alongside growers in day-to-day operations. It enables instant pest and disease diagnosis by analyzing photos taken in the field, helping issues to be addressed before they spread. Farmers can select the right inputs for their crops and objectives, supported by scientific validation and compliance checks. The assistant also provides detailed spray plans covering timing, dosage, and rotation, ensuring precision in crop protection.

Harvest intervals and residue limits can be verified against EU and US standards in seconds, supporting compliance with PHI and MRL requirements. Orth further offers timely guidance on irrigation and nutrition based on real field conditions and crop stages. To enhance collaboration, the platform allows supervisors, agronomists, and partners to share insights in one place, ensuring coordinated farm management.

Democratizing Access to Agronomy

Aydi’s Orth offers expertise that has historically been available primarily to large scale farms, making advanced agronomic support accessible to smaller operators as well. The platform enables growers to capture and analyze field data, creating opportunities for more informed decision making and operational improvements. By digitizing field level knowledge, Orth is intended to function as a practical solution for growers navigating cost and climate challenges.

Global Rollout and Next Steps

Orth was officially launched at Fruit Attraction in Madrid on September 30, where it became available in both free and paid tiers for individuals and businesses. With the seed round completed, Aydi plans to expand Orth’s reach and scale it into a comprehensive AI operating system for agriculture, targeting adoption by millions of farmers globally.
