Event Details

The AgriTech Hackathon, organized by Agrotech Space in partnership with Reskilll, is a major event set to take place on 5 March 2025. The hackathon, supported by Microsoft Azure and Azure Development Community at the Microsoft Office in Gurugram. The hackathon aims to develop tech-driven solutions for some of the most pressing challenges in agriculture. It brings together a range of participantsโ€”including students, technologists, freelancers, and professional developersโ€”who will work collaboratively to address real-world agricultural issues.

Key objectives of the AgriTech Hackathon include tackling problems like stubble burning and post-harvest losses in fruits and vegetables. Notably, a panel discussion titled โ€œCan AI Democratize Technology for Farmers?โ€ will explore how artificial intelligence can make technological advancements more accessible to farmers, helping them enhance productivity and sustainability.

Key Features:

  • Technological Focus: The event will encourage the use of technologies like AI, IoT, blockchain, and data analytics to address issues such as improving supply chains, optimizing resource use, and creating sustainable farming practices.
  • Focus Areas:

    • Stubble Burning: Participants will focus on finding cost-effective, scalable solutions to reduce stubble burning, which is a major environmental and health challenge in states like Punjab and Haryana.
    • Post-Harvest Losses: A significant issue in Maharashtra, particularly in districts like Nashik and Pune, is the post-harvest loss of produce. Hackathon participants will work on solutions to reduce these losses and improve the efficiency of the supply chain, particularly for fruits like grapes and tomatoes.

Industry Experts and Jury:

The AgriTech Hackathon will feature a panel of experts who will not only judge the competition but also share valuable insights. The panel includes leaders from various fields, such as:

  • Ashutosh Tiwari (Founder & CEO,Nkosh)
  • Nitin Puri (Founder & CEO, KisaanSay)
  • Sachin Sharma (Founder, Agro Farm Ventures, which own the brand Kisan Manch)
  • Sanya Duggal (Partner GTM & Strategy Manager, Microsoft)
  • Suparnaa Chadda (Founder Curator, SABERA)
  • Vishal Salgotra (CF & COO, INNOFarms.ai)

Key Challenges:

  1. Stubble Burning: Participants will develop solutions to reduce the practice of burning crop residue, which contributes significantly to air pollution, especially in northern states.
  2. Post-Harvest Losses: Focus will be on preventing wastage, particularly in the grape and tomato supply chains in Maharashtra, by improving storage and transportation methods.

Goals:

The AgriTech Hackathon aims to transform Indian agriculture by leveraging technology to:

  • Enhance farming efficiency.
  • Reduce environmental damage and waste.
  • Promote sustainable farming practices.
  • Empower farmers with accessible tech solutions.

This AgriTech Hackathon is designed to foster collaboration and innovation to address Indiaโ€™s agricultural challenges and build a more resilient farming ecosystem. Want to participate in the Hackathon? Register here.
