ICAR-IARI Agripreneurship Development Program

The ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute is organizing a specialized training program aimed at promoting agripreneurship in hybrid vegetable seed production, scheduled from December 9 to 14, 2024. The Agripreneurship Development Program (ADP) will offer participants in-depth knowledge and practical training to strengthen their expertise in the agricultural sector, with a focus on hybrid vegetable seed production.

Objective of the Agripreneurship Training

The program aims to address several key areas in the field of hybrid seed production, especially for vegetable crops. Participants will be introduced to the following core topics:

  • Hybrid Parental Lines and Male Sterility Mechanisms: A deep understanding of maintaining hybrid parental lines and various genetic mechanisms of male sterility in vegetable crops.
  • Hybrid Seed Production Skills: Enhancing the skills required for successful hybrid seed production, including controlled pollination, crop management, and seed processing.
  • Post-Harvest Handling and Quality Assurance: Educating participants on the techniques for post-harvest handling of seeds to ensure quality assurance, including cleaning, drying, sorting, and storage.
  • Regulatory Requirements and Intellectual Property Rights: Providing insight into the regulatory framework governing seed production, certification standards, and intellectual property rights concerning hybrid seed varieties.
