Generative Artificial Intelligence in agriculture got huge attention at International Gen AI Conclave, held in Kochi, Kerala, on 11-12 July.
The event focused on leveraging AI to predict extreme weather, enhance irrigation and improve pest resistance, boosting agriculture productivity.
This initiative aims to position Kerala as a hub of AI innovation, fostering economic growth and sustainable agriculture practices in response to climate challenges. The event was inaugurated by the state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Over 20 AI startups were selected to present their innovations, which showcased AI-driven irrigation systems, drones for pesticide spraying and other technological advancements. Featured products of IBM included a SaaS platform, ‘Environmental Intelligence Suite’, designed to monitor environmental condition.
‘Environmental Intelligence Suite’
IBM’s suite can predict extreme weather events that can impact irrigation, fertilization and pest resistance — improving agricultural production and productivity.
Some key features:
- It can detect and mitigate the impact of climate change using AI and high-resolution satellite imagery.
- It combines accurate weather, geospatial, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and industry-specific data so that custom climate adaptation solutions can be build.
- A single dashboard puts visualizations, alerts and geospatial insights in one place.
- Built-in tools for developing customized models and monitoring applications to access the required environmental data and can integrate them.
- Offers more than 150 endpoints for weather, geospatial and carbon data, adding a value and functionality to applications seamless with alerts, notifications, forecast data, weather imagery and more.
- Gain climate intelligence with analysis tools to safeguard the vegetation.
The CM hopes that this conclave will grab global attention. “In the immediate future itself, we hope to organize a Round Table Conference on Robotics, as a sequel to this conclave on generative artificial intelligence. Numerous AI startups in Kerala are pushing the boundaries of innovation, some of whom have showcased their advancements in the exhibition today,” he said.
