Indian Government is set to launch ‘Kisan Ki Baat’, a monthly radio programme on Akashvani, aimed at modernising agriculture by providing farmers with essential scientific knowledge. The programme will feature agricultural scientists, officials of the agriculture department and Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, ensuring that vital information is effectively communicated to support better farming practices.
Key Features of the ‘Kisan Ki Baat’ Programme
- Monthly Radio Broadcast: ‘Kisan Ki Baat’ will be aired monthly on Akashvani, offering a consistent and reliable platform for farmers to access essential information.
- Expert Contributions: The programme will feature discussions with agricultural scientists, officials from the agriculture department, and the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. These experts will provide insights on best practices and recent scientific advancements.

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan revealed at the Independence Day celebrations that the programme will start next month. The Minister also emphasized the need to integrate Krishi Vigyan Kendras with the needs of farmers and encourage communication between agricultural experts and the farming community. He expressed the goal of transforming India into a global food basket through this initiative.
During the same event, Minister launched the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) and acknowledged Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to prioritizing farmers’ needs. The event was attended by Ministers of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur and Bhagirath Chaudhary, along with the ICAR Director General Himanshu Pathak.
