Punjab Agri Univ to Start Farm Machinery Learning Centre

The initiative will create new farm equipment and offer training to farmers and extension workers

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is set to enhance agricultural education with the establishment of the PAU-TAFE Learning Centre for Advanced Farm Machinery. The new Learning Centre aims to enhance training and development in advanced agricultural machinery.

PAU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), Chennai. The five-year agreement intended to create opportunities for learning, skill-building and advancement in the agricultural sector.

Key Features of Learning Centre

  • Enhancing agricultural education through visits and guest lectures of experienced faculty, scholars and professionals.
  • Exposure to latest farm technologies and job opportunities for the students.
  • Development of new farm equipment and technologies to enhance production and productivity.
  • Training will be provided to the dealers and the officials of the organization.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, congratulated the TAFE for entering into collaboration with the University that will help the students in bolstering their manpower and making this interface a mutually beneficial one.

“The two organizations have agreed to establish a structured partnership between the institution and industry. This collaboration will include regular interactions such as faculty visits, guest lectures by experienced professionals, and topic-specific discussions as mutually decided.”

The initiative will focus will be on developing innovative and relevant farm equipment and technologies, with advanced training programs offered to extension workers and farmers to support their adoption and enhance agricultural productivity.

Dr Vishal Bector, Associate Director (Institutional Relations), PAU, said that this MoU will be a win-win situation for both the sides. The students and the farmers of Punjab will benefit from the latest machinery, developed by the TAFE and TAFE will also provide the training to the dealers and officials of their organizations.

The collaboration marks a commitment to support the growth and development of future leaders in farming and machinery. Sanjay Vij, Head (Service), Nitin Patil, Head (Sales), Vishal Mahly and Gouri Shankar, Marketing Executive from TAFE, were also present at the MoU ceremony.
