Mahindra's CBG Tractor

Mahindra Tractors unveiled its first Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) powered tractor at India Bio Energy and Tech Expo, Delhi. With CBG tractor, Mahindra aims to provide farmers a sustainable energy solution in agriculture.

The Mahindra Yuvo Tech+ CBG tractor is designed to deliver power and performance comparable to conventional diesel tractors. The tractor is packed with many features like more backup torque, 12F + 3R gears, the highest lift capacity, an adjustable deluxe seat, and powerful wrap-around clear lens headlamps. Hence, making it suitable for a wide range of farming and heavy tasks.

Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) is a green, renewable energy source made from organic waste. It is produced by breaking down things like farm leftovers, animal manure and food scraps in a process without oxygen.

Unlike CNG, which comes from underground reserves, CBG is generated from fermented organic waste, making it a CO2-neutral fuel.

While both CNG and CBG are methane-based gases and require compression and storage in pressure vessels for use in vehicles. However, CBG stands out as a more sustainable and renewable alternative due to its origin from renewable resources.

The product launched in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, and event also showcased alternate fuel tractor technologies like a CNG tractor, an LPG tractor and dual-fuel tractor technology over the last few years.
