BioPrime Agrisolutions, a Pune-based biotech startup focused on biological solutions for agriculture, has successfully raised $6 million in a Series A funding round led by Belgium’s Edaphon. This investment will primarily support research in crop protection, particularly in the co-development of innovative biofungicides and bioinsecticides. Notably, this marks Edaphon’s first investment in the Asian market, with additional contributions from existing investors Omnivore and Inflexor Ventures.
Founded in 2016 by Renuka Diwan, Amit Shinde, and Shekhar Bhosale, BioPrime focuses on developing biological solutions that enhance crop resilience and sustainability. The startup employs small trigger molecules that help plants metabolically reprogram, aiming to lower carbon footprints, restore soil health, and boost agricultural yields.
The startup aims to expand its existing range of biostimulants into North America, Brazil, and Southeast Asia, with ongoing trials in the United States. Additionally, BioPrime is looking to enhance product development utilizing its patented technology platform, BioNexus, which has successfully identified over 170 novel microbial strains from a library of nearly 18,000 strains.

“This funding validates our technology and the commitment of our team. We are focused on accelerating the development of innovative solutions for our B2B customers and exploring strategic partnerships with industry leaders.”
Vincent Vliebergh, Managing Partner of Edaphon, highlighted the startup’s dual strengths: “BioPrime’s impressive portfolio of commercial products and its innovative pipeline position it well within India’s expanding biostimulant market. The company is crucial in providing solutions to smallholder farmers while tackling sustainability challenges.”
Pratip Mazumdar, Managing Partner at Inflexor, added, “This investment further strengthens BioPrime’s growth trajectory and reinforces our confidence in the biologicals sector in India.”
As BioPrime moves forward with its ambitious plans, the company aims not only to enhance its product offerings but also to engage in strategic co-development and licensing arrangements with industry partners, solidifying its role as a leader in the biologicals field.
