Mumbai based agritech company Khetika, has announced the launch of its new dedicated manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. The plant is designed to strengthen the company’s fresh food portfolio and is aimed at capturing 50% of the market share in the clean label batter and chutney category within its first year of operation.

Facility Details and Capacity

The Bengaluru plant is fully dedicated to producing stone ground batters, chutneys, and other fresh food products. With an initial capacity of 30 tons per day and scalability up to 100 tons per day, it is currently the largest plant in India for stone ground batters and chutneys. The facility spans 5,000 sq ft, with provision to expand to 10,000 sq ft as demand grows.

Combining modern automation with traditional stone grinding techniques, the plant ensures preservation of maximum nutritional value throughout the production process. Advanced IoT based SCADA systems have been integrated for real time monitoring of pH and temperature, guaranteeing consistency, quality, and freshness.

Local Sourcing and Sustainability

Khetika’s millet based portfolio, especially ragi, is sourced entirely from Karnataka farms. This approach supports regional agriculture while ensuring freshness, traceability and alignment with consumer demand for sustainable, millet based food products.

Strategic Goals and Market Ambitions

The facility launch comes soon after Khetika’s Series B funding round. The company has set a clear target of securing 50% of Bengaluru’s clean label batter and chutney market share within its first year. To achieve this, it is focusing on hyper local production and same day distribution, with delivery of fresh products to retail partners within 24 hours of production.

The Bengaluru facility is also part of Khetika’s national roadmap to establish eight fresh food production units across India, aimed at serving 40 cities within the next 12 months.

“This launch is a key step in our journey to bring clean, authentic, and sustainable Indian food closer to urban homes and expand our offerings in the regional Indian markets,” said Dr Prithwi Singh, Co-founder and CEO of Khetika. “With Bengaluru’s strong appetite for high protein, millet based batters and fresh chutneys, this facility enables us to serve local preferences with unmatched freshness, quality, and traceability. We are targeting 50% of the clean label batter and chutney market within our first year.”

Darshan Krishnamurthy, Co-founder and CTO, added: “As a son of Karnataka, this plant holds a special place for me. It’s not just about scale; it’s about setting new benchmarks for authenticity, transparency, and innovation in the fresh food category. By blending our traditional food wisdom with modern automation and IoT driven quality controls, we’re ensuring freshness at scale. This facility is also a key step in our national roadmap to expand into 40 cities in the next year.”

Bengaluru at the Center of the Movement

Known as the country’s startup hub and the largest consumer of idlis and dosas, Bengaluru has been central to India’s fresh food movement. Khetika has already been serving the city, but this new facility establishes a stronger base for expansion across southern India. Dr. Singh described the launch as more than an infrastructure addition, calling it “a testament to our team’s hard work and our vision to bring zero preservative, healthy, and traditional food to every household.”

Broader Market Presence

Beyond batters and chutneys, Khetika’s portfolio includes millet based staples, spices, makhana, dry fruits, and rice. Its distribution network spans quick commerce, e-commerce, modern trade, and regional retail channels, ensuring broad consumer access.

By combining traditional stone grinding with modern automation, scaling production while maintaining authenticity, and anchoring its sourcing in local farms, Khetika continues to expand its clean label fresh food category nationwide. The Bengaluru facility marks the company’s strongest step yet in reaching urban households with preservative free staples and fresh foods.
