SKUAST Kashmir and AVPL International Launch Advanced Drone Training

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir, in partnership with AVPL International, has launched a comprehensive seven-day training program to elevate skills in drone technology, with a focus on precision and sustainable agriculture. This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), seeks to equip aspiring agritech professionals with the advanced skills necessary to revolutionize farming practices through drone technology.

The training, hosted at SKUAST’s Center for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CAIML), began on November 4 and drew 25 selected participants from various academic and professional backgrounds, reflecting the growing interest in integrating modern technology with agriculture. Throughout the week, these participants will receive expert instruction from leading specialists in drone technology, robotics, and IoT applications, including industry experts from IoTechWorld Avigation, MACFOS LIMITED, IIT Mandi, and Enthu Technology Solutions.

Professor Nazir A. Ganai, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Kashmir, inaugurated the program, underlining the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting youth employability through technological advancements in agriculture. He commended CAIML and its coordinator, Dr. Showkat Rasool, for organizing the event and positioning SKUAST as a technology leader in the agricultural sector. Prof. Ganai emphasized that the skills imparted through such training would not only boost employability but also pave the way for entrepreneurial opportunities in agrotech.

“Sustainable farming can only be achieved through precision farming, and AVPL International is committed to advancing technology in this field. The right choice of drones and technology, including innovations like AI-driven imaging and IoT integration, is essential for creating viable and impactful solutions.”
