Entrepreneurship Development Conclave 2025

The Entrepreneurship Development Conclave 2025, themed “Empowering Entrepreneurs: Transforming Livestock Economies,” was organized by Union  Ministry for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying (DAHD) at the GD Madulkar Natya Griha in Pune. The event centered on fostering growth in the livestock sector by promoting entrepreneurship and infrastructure development. Participants from various parts of the country gathered to explore initiatives and entrepreneurship opportunities aimed at advancing the industry.

Launch of 40 Projects Under National Livestock Mission and AHIDF

A total of 40 new projects were officially launched during the conclave. These included 20 projects under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) and 20 under the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF). These projects are tailored to enhance financial assistance and infrastructure for entrepreneurs working in the livestock domain. The introduction of these initiatives marks a step forward in providing resources and support to the sector.

Recognition for Top-Performing States and Financial Institutions

The event acknowledged the efforts of several states that have excelled in implementing livestock-related programs. Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu were recognized for their outstanding contributions under the AHIDF scheme. Similarly, Karnataka, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh were celebrated for their exceptional performance in the NLM Entrepreneurship Program. Financial institutions, including Canara Bank, State Bank of India, and HDFC Bank, received accolades for their proactive role in providing credit support to these initiatives, thereby facilitating financial inclusion in the sector.

Unveiling of New Guidelines, Tools and Awareness Campaigns

The conclave featured the release of two compendiums that showcased the success stories of beneficiaries from the AHIDF and NLM programs. These documents highlighted the impact of the schemes on the lives of entrepreneurs and the broader livestock economy. In addition, updated operational guidelines for the NLM, termed NLM Operational Guidelines 2.0, were introduced to ensure better implementation and monitoring. A new Monitoring Dashboard was also launched to provide a transparent and efficient mechanism for tracking progress under the scheme.

Future Food Livestock & Poultry Expo 2025

To further promote awareness and education, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying announced the initiation of “Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare Month,” scheduled to run from January 14 to February 13, 2025. This month-long campaign aims to engage stakeholders across the nation through educational activities and awareness programs focused on animal husbandry practices and welfare.

Details on AHIDF and NLM Progress

The AHIDF, established under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Package in 2020, aims to support projects in dairy processing, meat processing, feed production, and veterinary infrastructure development. With a budget of INR 17,296 crore, the fund has been extended to include additional resources and benefits. As of now, 362 projects worth INR 10,356.90 crore have been approved, and an interest subvention of INR 247.69 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries. This initiative has played a crucial role in modernizing and strengthening the livestock infrastructure in the country.

The NLM, which was realigned in 2021, provides a 50% capital subsidy for projects related to poultry, sheep, goat, pig, camel, and other livestock. It also supports feed processing, grading infrastructure, genetic development programs, feed and fodder initiatives, and livestock insurance. To date, 3,010 projects have been approved under this scheme, with a total project cost of INR 2,182.52 crore and subsidies amounting to INR 1,005.87 crore. These programs have facilitated the development of a robust ecosystem for the livestock sector.

Focus on Technical Sessions and Expert Discussions

The conclave included two technical sessions designed to explore various facets of the livestock industry. The first session, titled “Catalyzing Growth in Livestock Sector: Entrepreneurship, Processing, and Opportunities,” delved into the potential for growth and innovation in the sector. The second session, “Role of Banks and MSMEs in Livestock Sector & Credit Facilitation,” focused on the importance of financial institutions and small and medium enterprises in supporting entrepreneurship and investment in the livestock economy. These discussions provided valuable insights and actionable strategies for stakeholders.

Highlighting State Contributions at Entrepreneurship Development Conclave

Maharashtra emerged as a standout contributor to the sector by developing a vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease. The state’s efforts in promoting private sector involvement, enhancing laboratory accreditation, and improving productivity were commended during the event. These achievements underscore the importance of innovation and proactive governance in driving the livestock sector forward.

The conclave concluded with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices, streamlined access to financial resources, and innovative entrepreneurship as key drivers for the future growth of the livestock economy. The event served as a platform for collaboration and idea exchange, setting the stage for continued progress in this vital sector.
